Accountant - fixed assets (El Paso, TX)

Fernwood Stone Energy delivers power and gas plans across the El Paso region. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to meter readings, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around billing disputes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with meter readings. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in El Paso. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
