Accountant - fixed assets (El Paso, TX)

Lumen Birch Transit Planning plans bus and rail service for cities around El Paso, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. You would join a small organisation of about 121 people based in El Paso. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to survey data, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around service alerts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with survey data. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in El Paso. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
