Accountant - fixed assets (Des Moines, IA)

Nova Cedar Farms is an agricultural business based around Des Moines. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. Seasons are busy and the rest of the year is for planning. What you will do • Track costs around field records against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Des Moines, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
