Accountant - fixed assets (Des Moines, IA)

Rivermark Haven Staffing connects candidates and employers across the Des Moines region, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. You would join a large organisation of about 398 people based in Des Moines. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to retention, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Des Moines. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
