Accountant - fixed assets (Des Moines, IA)

Silverline Basin Foods is a Des Moines food manufacturer supplying grocers and food-service customers, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. You would join a small organisation of about 32 people based in Des Moines. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to sanitation schedules, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Des Moines. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
