Accountant - fixed assets (Des Moines, IA)

Fernwood Quill Facilities cleans and maintains buildings for schools, offices and hospitals around Des Moines, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Des Moines. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to supply orders, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with supply orders. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Des Moines. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
