Accountant - fixed assets (Des Moines, IA)

Northwind Linden Foods makes sauces, snacks and prepared meals in Des Moines. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to sanitation schedules, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around production batches against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Des Moines, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
