Accountant - fixed assets (Dallas, TX)

Fernwood Juniper Transit Planning Associates plans bus and rail service for cities around Dallas. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. You would join a small organisation of about 110 people based in Dallas. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around service alerts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Dallas, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
