Accountant - fixed assets (Chicago, IL)

Ironwood Ashton Hospitality is a hospitality company in Chicago with restaurants, rooms and catering, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. Guests remember kindness. What you will do • Track costs around group events against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to reviews and feedback, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with reviews and feedback. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Chicago, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
