Accountant - fixed assets (Chicago, IL)

Redstone Lantern Insurance sells home, auto and small-business insurance in Chicago. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. We invest in training for new adjusters. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around policy renewals against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with claims. • A degree or certificate in accounting.
