Accountant - fixed assets (Chicago, IL)

Ironwood Sable Housing manages affordable housing communities across Chicago, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around lease compliance against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to resident services, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with resident services. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Chicago. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
