Accountant - fixed assets (Chicago, IL)

Cedar Vale Community Partners is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on fixed assets for volunteer shifts, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 12 people based in Chicago. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to volunteer shifts, and clear open items. • Track costs around grant reporting against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with volunteer shifts. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Chicago. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
