Accountant - fixed assets (Charleston, SC)

We are growing our team at Bright Fern Freight and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be fixed assets. Dispatch, drivers and warehouse staff talk to each other constantly. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around loads and lanes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to carrier rates, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with carrier rates. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Charleston, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
