Accountant - fixed assets (Charleston, SC)

Summit Forge Environmental Services is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on fixed assets for collection routes, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 173 people based in Charleston. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to collection routes, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around fleet maintenance against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with collection routes. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Charleston. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
