Accountant - fixed assets (Birmingham, AL)

Bright Junction Manufacturing manufactures parts and assemblies at its Birmingham plant. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to work orders, and clear open items. • Track costs around machine downtime against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with work orders. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Birmingham. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
