Accountant - fixed assets (Birmingham, AL)

Northwind Meadow Housing Group is a nonprofit housing provider in Birmingham. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Birmingham. What you will do • Track costs around repair requests against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with resident services. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Birmingham. • We reply to every applicant.
