Accountant - fixed assets (Anchorage, AK)

Redstone Ridge Insurance Group sells home, auto and small-business insurance in Anchorage, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. You would join a small organisation of about 20 people based in Anchorage. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to catastrophe response, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around customer complaints against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with catastrophe response. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Anchorage. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
