Accountant - audit preparation (Wichita, KS)

Summit Meridian Inspection Services is an inspection company in Wichita with field technicians and lab staff, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 172 people based in Wichita. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to test reports, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with test reports. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
