Accountant - audit preparation (Virginia Beach, VA)

Harborlight Keystone Foods is a Virginia Beach food manufacturer supplying grocers and food-service customers, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 35 people based in Virginia Beach. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to sanitation schedules, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with sanitation schedules. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Virginia Beach. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
