Accountant - audit preparation (Tampa, FL)

Fernwood Keystone Freight coordinates shipments and warehousing around Tampa, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would join a large organisation of about 205 people based in Tampa. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around customer tracking against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to proof of delivery, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with proof of delivery. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Tampa. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
