Accountant - audit preparation (Tampa, FL)

Northwind Yarrow Freight moves freight for manufacturers and retailers out of Tampa. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around loads and lanes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with proof of delivery. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • On site in Tampa, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
