Accountant - audit preparation (St. Louis, MO)

Westbrook Maple Insurance is an insurance company in St. Louis with claims and service teams, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. Claims teams work together and share what they learn. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to premium billing, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with premium billing. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in St. Louis. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
