Accountant - audit preparation (Spokane, WA)

Fernwood Wren Transit Planning is a transit-planning firm in Spokane working with agencies and riders. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Spokane. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to accessibility audits, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around route schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with accessibility audits. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Spokane. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
