Accountant - audit preparation (Spokane, WA)

Stonegate Forge Transit Planning is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on audit preparation for route schedules, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 86 people based in Spokane. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around fare systems against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to route schedules, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with route schedules. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Spokane. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
