Accountant - audit preparation (Savannah, GA)

Silverline Pine Water Authority supplies drinking water and treats wastewater for Savannah and nearby communities, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to meter reading, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around pipe repairs against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with meter reading. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Savannah, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
