Accountant - audit preparation (San Jose, CA)

Amberfield Ashton Inspection Services Group provides independent inspection and testing for industry across San Jose. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 22 people based in San Jose. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to certifications, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around field inspections against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with certifications. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in San Jose. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
