Accountant - audit preparation (San Jose, CA)

Rivermark Hollow Arts Center is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on audit preparation for ticketing, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 58 people based in San Jose. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to ticketing, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around exhibitions against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with ticketing. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in San Jose. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
