Accountant - audit preparation (San Jose, CA)

Ironwood Quill Telecom builds and runs fibre and wireless networks in the San Jose area, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. We keep people connected and take outages personally. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around customer tickets against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to field visits, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with field visits. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in San Jose, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
