Accountant - audit preparation (San Jose, CA)

Redstone Orchard Freight moves freight for manufacturers and retailers out of San Jose, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would join a large organisation of about 795 people based in San Jose. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around carrier rates against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to loads and lanes, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with loads and lanes.
