Accountant - audit preparation (San Diego, CA)

Fernwood Loom Early Learning Group is an early-learning provider in San Diego, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Track costs around enrolment against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to licensing records, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with licensing records. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in San Diego, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
