Accountant - audit preparation (Salt Lake City, UT)

Redstone Rook Water Authority supplies drinking water and treats wastewater for Salt Lake City and nearby communities, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to pipe repairs, and clear open items. • Track costs around meter reading against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with pipe repairs. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Salt Lake City, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
