Accountant - audit preparation (Sacramento, CA)

Nova Fern Environmental Services Group serves homes and businesses with collection and disposal in Sacramento, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. Safety briefings happen every morning. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around service complaints against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with recycling loads. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Sacramento, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
