Accountant - audit preparation (Richmond, VA)

Clearpath Orchard Transit Planning helps transport agencies around Richmond design routes and schedules. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. We like people who ride the bus and notice when things do not work. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to fare systems, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with fare systems. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Richmond, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
