Accountant - audit preparation (Reno, NV)

Nova Maple Water Authority is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on audit preparation for treatment plant data, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a large organisation of about 416 people based in Reno. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to treatment plant data, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around pipe repairs against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with treatment plant data. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Reno, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
