Accountant - audit preparation (remote)

Lumen Birch Transit Planning plans bus and rail service for cities around Pittsburgh, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 182 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around accessibility audits against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to ridership counts, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with ridership counts. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in Pittsburgh. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
