Accountant - audit preparation (remote)

Fernwood Lakeside Transit Planning Group is a transit-planning firm in Birmingham working with agencies and riders, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 151 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around route schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with accessibility audits. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
