Accountant - audit preparation (remote)

Amberfield Hollow Environmental Services is an environmental-services company in Anchorage with routes, transfer stations and recycling. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. Safety briefings happen every morning. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around recycling loads against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to fleet maintenance, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with fleet maintenance. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, spread across three days. • Remote-friendly, with an occasional day on site in Anchorage. • We reply to every applicant.
