Accountant - audit preparation (remote)

Harborlight Pine Press prints books, catalogues and packaging from its Oakland plant, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 156 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around bindery work against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, mornings. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in Oakland. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
