Accountant - audit preparation (remote)

Foxglove Forge Farms grows and distributes produce from farms near Boston. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 16 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around seasonal crews against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with grower contracts. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Boston. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
