Accountant - audit preparation (remote)

Ironwood Sable Financial Group provides savings, lending and payment services from Houston. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. Teams collaborate across risk, service and technology. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to account servicing, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around payment disputes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with account servicing. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, with flexible days. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in Houston. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
