Accountant - audit preparation (remote)

Ironwood Yarrow Foods is a Chicago food manufacturer supplying grocers and food-service customers. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 179 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to customer specifications, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around sanitation schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with customer specifications. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Chicago. • We reply to every applicant.
