Accountant - audit preparation (remote)

Ironwood Amber Insurance provides coverage to households and businesses around San Jose. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around customer complaints against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to premium billing, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with premium billing. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in San Jose. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
