Accountant - audit preparation (remote)

Foxglove Wilder Insurance Group provides coverage to households and businesses around Hartford. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to policy renewals, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with policy renewals. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, mornings. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in Hartford. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
