Accountant - audit preparation (remote)

Fernwood Meridian Foods Partners makes sauces, snacks and prepared meals in Columbus, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around production batches against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to ingredient orders, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with ingredient orders. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in Columbus. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
