Accountant - audit preparation (remote)

Clearpath Yarrow Transit Planning is a transit-planning firm in Houston working with agencies and riders. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. We like people who ride the bus and notice when things do not work. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around route schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to fare systems, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Houston. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
