Accountant - audit preparation (remote)

Harborlight Ember Markets serves neighbourhoods around Anchorage with fresh food and everyday goods. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. Managers started on the floor. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with store inventory. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, mornings. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in Anchorage. • We reply to every applicant.
