Accountant - audit preparation (remote)

Highbridge Timber Medical designs and makes medical devices in Oakland. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. Documentation is part of the craft. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around device records against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to regulatory submissions, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in Oakland. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
