Accountant - audit preparation (remote)

Fernwood Harbor Transit Planning is a transit-planning firm in Savannah working with agencies and riders. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to ridership counts, and clear open items. • Track costs around service alerts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Savannah. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
