Accountant - audit preparation (Providence, RI)

Foxglove Harbor Energy supplies electricity and gas to homes and businesses around Providence. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Track costs around hardship programmes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with billing disputes. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Providence. • We reply to every applicant.
