Accountant - audit preparation (Providence, RI)

Westbrook Lakeside Foods produces packaged foods at its Providence plant, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 12 people based in Providence. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to production batches, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with production batches. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Providence. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
